She might have handed you an "I Voted" sticker or given you a ballot, but for decades Nancy Strain made sure your vote counted.
She is the executive director at the Rockford Board of Elections. After more than 30 years in the office and over a decade in the top job, she decided to retire. Strain says she's leaving things in good hands. "I hope the citizens of Rockford know how honest the elections are. I have full confidence in everybody and will continue good elections."
Ken Harper, who has been with the Board of Elections the last few years, will take over for Strain.
