Alex Wehrley

13 News Today Anchor

Alex joined WREX as the anchor of 13 News Today in January 2011.

Before coming to Rockford, Alex interned at WMTV in Madison and also did freelance reporting in Chicago for various lifestyle websites.

"I love to learn every day and tell people's stories… and I've known since I was a little girl that I wanted to be an on-camera personality," said Alex. "It's so fun to interact face to face with my community, learn about their story and help spread their message to the rest of the public."

Alex is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Communication Arts degree. She is originally from Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Away from the job, Alex likes to spend time with family and friends, boat at her family's lake home, travel, try new restaurants, workout (loves hot yoga!), and listen to country music.

Little Known Facts about Alex

  • I won the title of Miss Wisconsin USA 2009 after my first try and competed at the Miss USA Telecast, owned by NBC and Donald Trump.
  • I've been to 5 countries outside the U.S.—Spain, France, Mexico, Bahamas & Aruba. I hope to increase that number every year!
  • I grew up as a model for Kohl's Department store and a competitive dancer in Jazz, Tap, Ballet and Poms.
  • I recently went scuba diving and skydiving for the first time. While skydiving, I wore a lederhosen for an American Airlines contest (wasn't my idea, but it sure was a lot of fun!).
  • I have strong Midwestern values… friends, family and faith come first. I like to try new things and see the world, but I appreciate the simple things in life the most.
