UPDATE: Six shot, one dead in Rockford Saturday morning

ROCKFORD (WREX)-The 25-year old man found shot and lifeless in a van in Rockford yesterday is Charles Spivey of Rockford, according to Winnebago County Coroner, Sue Fiduccia.

Spivey was pronounced dead at 6:42 a.m. on Saturday, January 22. Fiduccia says he died of a gunshot wound. An autopsy is scheduled on Monday. The Rockford Police Department continues to investigate his homicide.


ROCKFORD (WREX) - Six people were shot, one person was killed in a fight outside at a party early Saturday morning.

The shootings happened in the 2000 block of Sherman Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Rockford Police Detectives found a 25-year-old man shot dead inside a van at the intersection of Sunset and Sherman.

Three other men were found shot outside the party. Two other men showed up at an area hospital with gunshot wounds from the fight.

The other victims are ages 27, 21, 17, 22, and 20. Two of them were treated and released. The other three are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
