ROCKFORD (WREX) - The Rockford Housing Authority looks to make improvements to housing developments in the area with $4 million from the government stimulus package.
RHA is also applying for a competitive grant to get more money to redevelop Brewington Oaks and the site of the former Jane Addams development.
RHA expects to name a developer to revitalize those areas next month. Right now there are three national companies in the running for the job. RHA Executive Director John Cressman says, "The feedback that we've received says we need to take a holistic approach to the neighborhood, and that includes all of the needs of the neighborhood including retail needs."
RHA hopes to start construction by 2010.
