Obama's stimulus goes to the Senate Monday

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NBC NEWS) - President Obama and House democrats got not a single republican vote for their 800 plus billion dollar stimulus package.

And Thursday, on the Senate side, republicans warned that they too will vote no. So what happened to bipartisanship??

There is some serious angry finger pointing by both sides. But republicans insist their beef is not with the president.

President Barack Obama the day after his first big win. The house voted yes on his stimulus plan. But even though Mr. Obama came to Capitol Hill asking for republican support and had republicans in for drinks last night, he got not one house GOP vote.

Today senate republicans attacked the Obama plan. "Wasting tax money we don't have on programs we don't need," said republican Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

Republicans say too much of the half trillion in stimulus spending is not focused on jobs and say the quarter trillion in tax cuts is too little. "A trillion dollars is a terrible thing to waste," said republican Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming.

Republicans say the president is listening to them but the Speaker of the House is not. "They can cram down a stimulus package without republican support," said senator Jon Kyl a Republican from Arizona. "The problem is no one is a winner. All of us lose if this package is not successful."

Pelosi fired back. "We have reached out to the republicans all the way and they know it," said the house speaker.

And the president still hopes to win over republicans by the final votes.
