ROCKFORD (WREX) - Rockford's mayor files papers to run for re-election.
Mayor Larry Morrissey turned over the 2,500 signatures needed to run as an independent.
No one else has filed to run as an independent, but there are at least seven other mayoral candidates from the Republican, Democratic, and Green parties.
Mayor Morrissey will be formally added to the April ballot within 5 days.
