Roland BurrisCHICAGO (AP) -- Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White's office has rejected Gov. Rod Blagojevich's official proclamation naming Roland Burris to Barack Obama's former Senate seat.
White spokesman David Druker says the proclamation was rejected Wednesday.
White has said he won't sign off on anybody appointed by Blagojevich, who was arrested earlier this month on federal corruption charges. The governor says he's innocent.
Blagojevich named Burris on Tuesday, but leaders in the U.S. Senate have said they won't seat him.
Blagojevich spokesman Lucio Guerrero says the Democrat's office is reviewing its options.
It isn't clear if Democrats can keep the former state attorney general and comptroller out of the Senate.
