SPRINGFIELD - The new year will bring a new state law cracking down on drunk drivers.
Under the law, even if it's your first offense anyone convicted of DUI will be required to get a breathalizer device in their car. Once a month, the device will send your blood-alcohol readings to the secretary of state and you pay all the costs.
Last year drunk drivers killed 303 people in Illinois.
