File PhotoSPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The committee considering impeachment of Gov. Rod Blagojevich has halted its work for at least a week.
The committee is waiting to hear more about a motion by federal prosecutors to release some of the Blagojevich conversations they recorded. A judge is supposed to consider the motion next Monday.
Committee chairwoman Barbara Flynn Currie says if it looks like the tapes will be released quickly, the panel will wait until the tapes are available.
But she says if the issue turns into a long legal battle, the committee probably will resume its work next week and come up with a recommendation on whether to impeach Blagojevich.
Blagojevich attorney Ed Genson says he hasn't decided yet whether to support releasing the tapes.
