BELOIT, Wis. (AP) -- One victim's relative took a stand as a rash of car thefts continues in Beloit.
Beloit Police Capt. Bill Tyler says the relative spotted the stolen car Wednesday afternoon and followed it. A 16-year-old driver crashed the vehicle after a brief chase. The relative then tried to stop the driver, who escaped and ran off.
Tyler says police have identified the driver and are looking for him and at least one other suspect.
More than a dozen vehicles have been stolen in Beloit in about a week. Three were taken on Wednesday alone.
Police say a group of youths has been taking cars, joy riding, crashing and fleeing in other stolen vehicles. Police say most of the stolen cars had been left unattended while running.
