Shoppers recovering from the Black Friday turn their focus online for another shopping day that gets bigger every year.
Cyber Monday kicks off the online retail season.
Sites like www.cybermonday.com help you find the best deals from more than 500 merchants. The site is run by shop.org, which first coined the Cyber Monday name three years ago and now as a division of the National Retail Federation, is the industry's leading voice.
Another great online shopping comparison site is www.gottadeal.com
It works like a spy site for shopping bargains with an e-mail service that sends out the day's best deals and a mobile site that lets e-tail shoppers find specials from their cell phones.
MSNBC Web Expert Suzanne Choney says there are tricks to finding the best deals online. "The first thing to do is to start with some online shopping comparison sites that can help make it a lot easier," Choney advised.
She says comparison shopping is as important online as it is in stores.
One of her favorite comparison sites is www.dealnews.com. The site lists the day's hottest deals, and guarantees to list the lowest prices they can find sold by a reputable store.
She also recommends www.shopzilla.com, a site that offers shopping shortcuts. It helps you find specific categories like holiday deals, clearance deals, free shipping sites, and the top ten gifts for users.
Another site, www.pricespider.com, is where you'll find great deals for the techie in your life.
Finally Suzanne says www.pricegrabber.com is the site that compares prices on everything. Suzanne says even more importantly than what day you shop is what time you shop.
"Shop online in the off-peak hours. Very early morning, mid-afternoon, or late in the evening. You will find it easier to get into sites at that time, same as you would find it easier to get into stores generally at those times," she explained.
