More Than $1 Million Approved for Flood Victims in Winnebago County

In Winnebago county, 554 applicants are receiving a total of $1.3 million.

WINNEBAGO COUNTY - The deadline to file flood damage claims has passed, but FEMA continues to approve millions in aid.

Statewide more than $15 million has been approved for the 18 counties designated federal disaster areas.

In Winnebago county, 554 applicants are receiving a total of $1.3 million.

In Whiteside county, $8,740 has been approved for 12 applicants.

Thursday is the last day for flood victims to meet with representatives from the Small Business Administration at the office in Machesney Park.

Completing the SBA application is an essential part of the disaster recovery process even for individuals who do not want a loan. If the SBA determines that a homeowner or renter is ineligible for a loan, it automatically refers the applicant back to FEMA for possible grant assistance.

The office at the Michelsen's Office Furniture, 8020 N. Second Street, will close Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

The deadline to file physical property damage has been extended to August 29, 2008.

The deadline for economic injury applications is March 23, 2009.
