Carole Tierney was a passenger in the SUV. She died weeks after the crash.WINNEBAGO COUNTY - A 65-year-old woman from Winnebago has died from injuries suffered in a crash last month.
Carole Tierney was a passenger in an SUV that collided with an Illinois State Trooper's squad car at the intersection of Bypass 20 and Winnebago Road on July 12.
Police say the SUV, driven by a member of Tierney's family Darla Greenberg, was heading north on Winnebago and Trooper Mark Molitor's squad car was heading west on Bypass 20.
Tierney was flown from the scene to an area hospital where she was treated for several weeks. On Monday night the Winnebago County Coroner's office says she died of her injuries.
Greenberg was treated for injuries after the crash. Trooper Molitor was not hurt.
Illinois State Police continue to investigate.
