WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WREX) - An eight-foot Boa Constrictor ended up along the side of the road on Bypass 20 Tuesday morning.
The snake was found along the side of the road near Meridian around 9:00 a.m.
Winnebago County Animal Services says it's likely the snake was let go by its owner because they could no longer afford to feed it. Animal Services brought in an expert from the Chicago Herpetological Society, who says they've seen more than a dozen cases like that recently.
The snake is now at the Chicago Herpetological Society and could end up at the Brookfield Zoo near Chicago if nobody claims it.
