UNDATED (WREX) - Rockford AirFest headlines the last weekend of July in the stateline.
The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are the big act at this year's show. They'll be performing at the end of the day's events both Saturday and Sunday at Chicago Rockford International Airport. Gates open each day at 9:00 a.m., with opening ceremonies around 10:30 a.m. and performances starting at 11:00 a.m.
AirFest officials have changed the recommended route to get to the show this year in an effort to ease traffic congestion.
From the east:
Take the U.S. 20 bypass, exit south on 11th Street/Illinois 251, turn right on Airport Drive and follow the signs.
From the west:
Take the U.S. 20 bypass, exit south on South Main Street/Illinois 2, turn right on Kishwaukee Road and follow the signs.
Parking options:
All parking lots are cash-only, unless you purchased a package that included parking passes.
Preferred parking is $20, general parking is $10 and ADA parking is $10 (with valid placard on display).
RV Park
The RV Park is in the same area as last year, near the south side of the airfield. There's a shuttle service to the main gate. Advance sales are available online through Wednesday, then drive-ups only. Three-Day passes are $130, daily passes are $60 and include show tickets. To get to the RV Park, take either New Milford School Road or Blackhawk Road, turn left on Falcon Road and right on Beltline Road. The RV Park is on Cessna Drive.
