UNDATED (WREX/AP) - The University of Illinois' Extension Service says it may close some of its offices around the state to deal with a potential $5.59 million state budget cut.
Extension spokesman Gary Beaumont says it's likely the service's 12 centers around the state would close. Their operations could be run out of county offices or even from employees' homes.
Beaumont says the service is trying to find ways to save money without cutting programs.
The office housed at the U of I College of Medicine in Rockford has already cut from 11 educators to 10, with four that only work from home.
