ROCKFORD (WREX) - A long time Rockford firefighter spends his last day on the job.
Division Chief of Fire Prevention Frank Schmitt retired today. Chief Derek Bergsten says thanks to Schmitt's efforts the city had no fire-related deaths last year.
The department will say good-bye to another long-time employee in April.
That's when Division Chief of Operations Bill Beaman is hanging up his helmet.
