FREEPORT (WREX) - Freeport residents talk about how to make their neighborhoods safer.
The first and sixth wards had their bimonthly Neighborhood Watch meeting tonight.
An officer from the Freeport Police Department spoke about area crime. The group was formed because of theft and burglary problems, but it looks at all neighborhood issues.
"We feel in our neighborhood that our lighting isn't probably what it should be, and so we've asked ComEd to take a look to see if they can help improve the lighting," Mary Spahn, a Neighborhood Watch member, said.
Aldermen from those wards were also at the meeting to talk about other happenings in Freeport.
