ROCKFORD (WREX) - A charity soccer match pits Rockford's finest against Rockford's bravest.
Police and firefighters took to the soccer field on Saturday night before the Rockford Rampage game. It's part of an effort to raise money for the Red Cross to help local disaster victims. That way, the next time something happens, we're ready.
"Disasters are unpredictable, so we just want to make sure that we have a robust disaster relief fund, and this is a great way to do it," said Cedric Johnson, Public Relations and Communications Manager for the Rock River Chapter of the American Red Cross.
It was a very close game out there, but the Rockford Fire Department took it, with a score of 3 to 2.
