WREX.com – Rockford’s News LeaderHomicides drop in county, flat in city for 2009

UNDATED (WREX) - Winnebago County only handled three homicides in 2009, but that was not the story in the City of Rockford.
In Winnebago County, the three homicides were the killing of Felix Rojas Perez back in January and the discovery of the remains of two infants in Katie Stockton's trunk. An arrest was made in Perez's killing. Stockton has not been charged with anything related to the remains found in her trunk.
In 2008, the county handled four homicide cases.
In Rockford, detectives handled 21 homicides in 2009. That's the exact number of cases handled in 2008.
