ROCKFORD (WREX) - Junior Achievement of Rock River Valley will shut down December 1.
The decision to close was made by the Board of Directors last week after several attempts were made to make the program more viable.
"For JA, the current economic situation in our community has taken its toll and we could not overcome," said Chairman of the local JA Board Tom Myers.
This past year the program helped an estimated 2,500 students in 20 schools.
Junior Achievement has been providing programs in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career readiness to students K-12 in public schools in Winnebago, Boone, Ogle and Stephenson counties.
