
NORTHERN, IL (WREX) - Keith and Freeport both won close games to advance in the IHSA state soccer playoffs on Tuesday night.
The Cougars defeated Earlville 5-3 to win the Princeton Sectional championship. Keith will play Waterloo Gibault in the Class 1A state semifinals Friday at 7:30 p.m.
In Class 2A, Freeport knocked off Sycamore 1-0 and will play DeKalb in the Sectional championship game Friday at 6 p.m. The games have been moved to Belvidere High School due to the field conditions at Freeport High School.
Boylan meanwhile lost to Lake Zurich 3-0 in the Class 3A Sectional semifinal at Barrington. The loss means the Titans will not go to state for the first time since 2006.
