ROCKFORD (WREX) - Kids at Montessori Learning Path spend the day riding tricycles to raise money for cancer research.
Today was the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon. Kids ages two-and-a-half to six years old collected donations. The students took one lap around the track for each dollar they raised.
The kids prepared for the big event all week by learning about bike safety and about St. Jude Children's Research Hosptial.
"Through the videos they've watched we hope they take away with them getting pledges that they are helping children who are sick and who do get help from St. Jude's," Esmeralda Penney, who organized the event, said.
Montessori Learning Path doesn't know how much money it raised yet, but says last year it raised $2,000.
