
WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WREX) - The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department is getting money to help make safety upgrades at area schools.
The $120,750 will be used for upgrades like metal detectors, locks, better lighting and other school safety measures.
The money comes from the Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, or COPS.
The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department is one of just seven agencies getting money in the state.
