ROCKFORD (WREX) - 20 patients in the Children's Medical Center at Rockford Memorial Hosptial have at least one new friend, a stuffed animal, but also a boy named Jack.
After having surgery in May, Jack O'Neil decided to help other kids in the hosptial. So he started a charity called "Little Hands Make a Big Difference" and raised money through lemonade stands and word of mouth. Jack spent the $600 he made on stuffed animals at Build-A-Bear.
Today he handed them out to kids at the hosptial, hoping the bears make a difference in other kids lives.
"So then they can hug them and make them feel better," Jack O'Neil said.
Jack says he got the idea of giving out stuffed animals after noticing other kids in the hosptial didn't have any.
