
UNDATED (WREX) - A poll done by the American Red Cross shows most Americans are taking steps to prepare for the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus.
93% of those surveyed say they are taking or plan on taking at least one measure to guard against getting the flu.
62% plan to get vaccinated for the virus once a shot is offered. Right now the CDC says a vaccine may not be ready until late fall.
Only one in 10 people surveyed say they are actually worried about the virus.
"Even though most Americans aren't extremely worried about the virus, they seem interested in taking steps to protect themselves and their families," said Scott Conner, Red Cross senior vice president of preparedness and health and safety services. "Taking those basic steps-such as washing your hands more frequently and remaining at home if you are sick become even more important as the new flu season approaches."
