MACHESNEY PARK (WREX) - A Machesney Park company adds some new jobs along with a new state of the art machine.
Superior Joining Technologies just got the Tru-Laser 7040. It's a six-axis laser cutter and welding tool. It cuts and welds in a 3D format. The machines SJT used before only cut in 2D flat sheets. The company's owner says this new machine gets jobs done faster, and with more accuracy.
"It will allow us to do things that are done right now with conventional means, conventional machining," said Superior Joining Technologies owner Thom Sheelow. "So we're not just talking about fabricating sheet metal."
It takes three people to work the machine: a laser operator, a programmer, and an office support person. SJT has already filled two of those positions.
