The team to honor former WREX News Anchor Heather Pick was put together by the station she worked at in Columbus, Ohio WBNS 10 TV. The team wore shirts with Heather's picture on it and pink wigs to honor her memory.
Heather made the pink wig famous in her final television appearance in Ohio promoting breast cancer awareness month.
A record 40,266 people ran in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Columbus Saturday, raising an estimated $2 million for the Komen fund.
Heather's husband Joe released a statement following Saturday race:
"I walked among many of you today with Heather's Mom and Dad, brothers, sisters, close friends and our children. We couldn't help feeling that our family had grown by 7,000 or more. Heather would have been extremely proud to know that her story inspired so many to rally for the cause. Today was a day she fought for. Thank you for picking up the flag and continuing her fight."
Heather died last November after her public battle with the disease. She was first diagnosed in 1999 and the disease returned in 2004.
