File PhotoCHICAGO (AP) -- New state records reveal heavy lobbying last year by Tribune Co. representatives looking to get then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich to agree to having the state buy Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs.
According to a story in Tuesday's editions, the Chicago Tribune obtained the records under the state's Freedom of Information Act.
The e-mails, phone logs and calendars show the negotiations were nicknamed Project Elwood -- apparently a reference to a character in the "Blues Brothers."
In a statement, Tribune company spokesman Gary Weitman said neither the company nor CEO Sam Zell has done anything wrong.
Blagojevich was arrested on federal corruption charges that include allegations he tried to pressure Tribune Co. to fire members of the newspaper's editorial board.
