CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago is putting on its best face this week in a bid to land the 2016 Olympics.
The city has been paving, painting and planting in preparation for a visit from a delegation from the International Olympic Committee.
Businesses and community groups have planted flowers in parks and planters along streets. Work crews are laying down fresh asphalt in Washington Park, where the Olympic stadium would be built, and patching potholes around town.
One of the city's top summertime attractions, the Millennium Park fountains, will be turned on ahead of schedule. Workers are also racing to finish renovating the famed Buckingham Fountain.
Chicago is competing with Rio de Janeiro, Madrid or Tokyo for the right to host the games.
