WREX.com – Rockford’s News LeaderChurch tries community outreach to improve neighborhood
ROCKFORD (WREX) -- A west-side church heads to the streets to improve its neighborhood.
Liberty Baptist held a community outreach Saturday morning. The event was open to everybody in Rockford, not just members of the church.
Pastor Willie Miller says the area has struggled with drugs and crime, and so this is one way to give people other options.
"We're here to touch any souls that we can, to minister to them, because we are a church, a community outreach church and, you know, that's our mission," Miller said.
The congregation plans to host a block party next weekend.
