A strong bond formed between one 5th grade student and his teacher. His mom says it's the best educational connection she's ever seen.
"He never stops talking about her. She's actually the best teacher he's had in five years," said Kaycee Connors.
This mother wanted to make sure 13 News knew about Mrs. Brandy Fago. Kaycee Connors describes Mrs. Fago as kind-hearted, fun and very deserving. "She's very dedicated to Tyler. everytime we come in for a parent/teacher conference she's all about telling us everything that they are doing."
"She's a very good teacher. If she doesn't like the way the book teaches us she'll change it to make it better so we can understand it," said 5th grade student Tyler Connors.
This duo sent numerous letters to 13 News, sometimes once a month, sometimes once a week. "Persistence is key. I think a good teacher should be recognized," said Kaycee Connors.
Mrs. Fago says she likes to make learning fun. She stays away from students constantly reading and taking notes. "We do a lot of different interactions and we sing songs sometimes to learn different things. Like for division we made up a song so they would understand the material better," saud Mrs. Fago
When she's not busy with creative teaching strategies, Mrs. Fago works to prepare this group for the big jump to middle school. "I'm kind-of like a tough love kind of person plus I've taught junior high before so I just make sure that they are responsible and ready and have all their stuff in on time."
Mrs. Fago will teach 1st Grade at Rolling Green next year. Oddly enough she'll teach the youngest member of the Connor family.
