BYRON - Exelon has reached a tentative agreement on a multi-year Property Tax Assessment Plan with 12 districts.
The four-year plan would provide those districts with $122.7 million for the 2008-2011 tax years.
"This is a great day for all the parties involved in this agreement," said Stephen Kuczynski, Exelon Nuclear senior vice president Midwest Operations. "From the start everyone agreed a multi-year deal would provide budgetary certainties and financial assurances for the taxing districts as well as grant tax predictability for the station's business planners. This agreement achieves that and avoids the annual discussions and costly appeals over valuations."
The agreement still needs approval from all 12 districts and a judge.
The twelve taxing districts that receive property tax revenues from Exelon's Byron Station are: Byron School District, Ogle County, Byron Fire Protection District, Rock Valley Community College, Oregon Park District, Bryon Forest Preserve District, Oregon School District, Rockvale Township, Rockvale Township Road District, Byron Public Library District, Byron Museum District and Kishwaukee Community College.
