Longtime Rockford election supervisor's last ballot count
ROCKFORD (WREX) - This is the last election in Rockford for a woman who's been a major part of the voting process for decades.
Nancy Strain will retire this year as Executive Director of the Rockford Board of Election Commissioners. She's been in that role for 14 years, but started in the elections office 32 years ago. Strain's seen a lot change over the years.
"We didn't have computers. When they started the computers in '82, the director at that time asked me if I'd like to learn how to use the computer and be the one that did the programming," Strain says.
She plans to step down in September. The board of commissioners will pick her replacement.
