Postal Service to study Rockford's distribution center
By Katie Nilsson ROCKFORD (WREX) - The U.S. Postal Service plans to study whether to consolidate Rockford's processing and distribution center with the one in Carol Stream.
According to Northern Illinois District Manager Bob Hart, the postal service has seen a 20% decrease in letter volume since 2007. He says they now have too many facilities, too much equipment and too many people than they needs to process that mail. A feasibility study will be done then public meetings will follow on any consolidation possibilities. The post office says this study and its outcome will not affect mail delivery.
You're welcome to write in a comment about the possible consolidation.
