Registrations sites include: all location of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rockford; Crusader Community Health; Harlem Community Center; Ken-Rock Community Center; La Voz Latina; Northwest Community Center; Patriots' Gateway Center; St. Elizabeth Community Center; and Washington Park Community Center.
Distribution of toys will take place at the Rockford Rescue Mission Hope Place located at 715 W. State Street from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The Empty Stocking Club's mission is to provide a toy to every needy child in Winnebago County who would not otherwise receive one at Christmas. A not-for-profit organization, Empty Stocking Club started in 1975 by several local community centers to solicit donations and distribute toys to needy children in Winnebago County. In 1981, the Rockford Register Star assumed major sponsorship of the organization and the program's name was officially changed to the Rockford Register Star Empty Stocking Club.
Toys and mittens are purchased through local retailers and are age/gender appropriate.
Last year approximately 5,300 children were registered. Our goal is to collect $50,000 through donations (we are currently at $34,483).
