Rockford Life Center gets money to help families on Thanksgiving

ROCKFORD (WREX) - 200 disadvantaged families in the Rockford area will get a turkey dinner this Thanksgiving thanks to a generous donation.

Rockford Life Center received a $5,000 contribution from Walmart to help provide turkey baskets to those families.

"Enjoying a Turkey feast and spending time with loved ones is something so many take for granted. It's unfortunate the number of Rockford households impacted by our down economy and otherwise would go without this holiday season. Without Walmart's contribution, we simply would be unable to serve such a large number of families, therefore, we are absolutely grateful for Walmart's commitment to help feed the less-fortunate," said Angela Harris.

The turkey baskets will be distributed on a referral basis to ensure families that need them most get them first.

Rockford Life Center has provided cost free services to over 30,000 less-fortunate and poverty stricken people in Winnebago County throughout the past year.
