Art on the Lawn forced to close early due to rain

Posted:

ROCKFORD (WREX) - Sunday's rain cut an art show short.  Rockford College got a few hours into its annual Art on the Lawn event and had to pack it in when the weather took a bad turn.

More than 50 artists were out there, selling everything from paintings to jewelry.

"This is a chance for people to see local artists and artists in the surrounding area, things that you don't normally see, things that a lot of times you can't buy in the stores," said artist Jamie Zander-Tarara.

Fellow artist Char terBeest Kudla agrees.  "I love the show," she said.  "I'm sad that we got rained out today, but I got about three good hours in.  I'll be back next year."

This was the 11th year for Art on the Lawn.
