
ROCKFORD (WREX) - This week Rockford-area youth focus on keeping people in the community healthy.
Local "AmeriCorps" organizers pick "Health Matters" as the theme for "AmeriCorps Week". Volunteers with AmeriCorps and YouthBuild Rockford are collecting non-perishable food at different grocery stores in Rockford. All of the food donated goes to the Rock River Valley Pantry.
AmeriCorps volunteer, Nastarsha McDonald, encourages people to give, "Anything. It can be a canned good, bag of rice, box of macaroni. It can be anything. Every little bit helps."
