BELVIDERE (WREX) - Students in the Belvidere School District join the effort to help earthquake victims in Haiti. This week they'll raise money to donate to Rockford Sharefest's Million Meals for Haiti project.
This also inspired a friendly competition between Belvidere High School and Belvidere North High Schools to see who can bring in the most money.
"In the end, it's all about being together and working for a good cause. I know that we sometimes are rivals, but it's really neat to see how we can work together," said Belvidere senior Gaby Pasillas.
Sharefest will use the money they collect to buy food, and this Saturday students will come together to help pack it so it can be shipped to Haiti.
