Michelle GustafsonROCKFORD (WREX) -- With tremendous needs still being felt in Haiti, some local hair salons pitch in to help.
Salon Crimson invited its customers to help in the effort. For seven hours they cut hair Sunday, and gave all the money to the Hope For Haitians Foundation. The suggested donation for each haircut was $15.
Michelle Gustafson, Salon Crimson owner, says, "Donating our time is something that is very important to me. It is, I feel, the only thing that we can do."
Gustafson says her salon raised over $600 for the relief effort.
And some other salons do their part too. From now through Saturday, the High Maintenance Salon & Spa in Loves Park will donate 10 percent of its fees to relief efforts in Haiti. Salon Bellezza in Roscoe will also donate 10 percent of their fees next week.
