Teacher of the Week: Ms. Sara Bockover

ROCKFORD(WREX) - Brothers and sisters often share one experience at some point they both were taught by the same teacher. For our "Teacher of the Week" that scenario happens a lot.

We head to Fairview Early Childhood Center in Rockford.  TThese 3, 4 and 5-year-olds end the school day in song. Ms. Sara Bockover makes sure these little ones walk away on a positive note. This classroom's their first experience with learning. 5-year-old William Hand had no problem adjusting.

Mother Elizabeth Hand says, "It's a perfect environment for him here at school. He talks about her all the time and my oldest often asks, "How's Ms. Sara? Does she miss me? Does she talk about me?"

This is Elizabeth Hand's second child being taught by Ms. Sara.  Ms. Sara states, "Families we have here at Fairview often will sort-of bond with the teacher and decide to request them year after year which we love because we know the families they know us. So we're a familiar person in their lives."

But this mom says Ms. Sara provides comfort to the students and the parents. Elizabeth's oldest son Patrick didn't start out liking school.  Both mom and Patrick were in tears. But Ms. Sara would find little methods of encouragement.

Hand states, "Ms. Sara sent him home with a No Tears certificate. We celebrated and ordered pizza and it was very exciting. I really think that both my boys they love school and I think the reason they both love school is because their first school experience was so positive with Ms. Sara."

Ms. Sara says, "You want to know they're ok and if you left them with tears did the tears stop by the time I got to my car? So I just want the parents to know that their child will be ok and this is a positive place to be."

Ms. Sara's been teaching for over 14 years.
