Rockford business honored for safety practices

ROCKFORD (WREX) - A big stamp of approval goes to a Rockford company for the way it runs things.

Chem Processing qualified for SHARP, the Safety and Health Achievement and Recognition Program. Only a couple of dozen companies in Illinois get the award from the state's Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

"For us, safety is one of our tenants of operation, and so we see going to the SHARP program as validation on the programs that we already have in place," said Matt Smazik, Manufacturing Director.

This recognition also gives Chem Processing a two year waiver from unannounced inspections by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
