ROCKFORD (WREX) - Rockford leaders drink to the end of a $4 million project. A dedication ceremony was held Monday for water well number 31, out at Bell School and Rote Roads. It's in addition to a well and pumping facility already there. Not only will it add capacity, but it will also filter water, remove iron, and improve water pressure in that part of the city. Rockford's water superintendent Tim Holdeman says it's a much needed improvement. "This area of town is higher in elevation. And so we really needed to improve the pressure capacity out here in this part of town."
Construction's been going on for a year and a half. This is the third of eight filtration plants the city will build over the next two years as part of the "Water Improvement Project".
