ROCKFORD (WREX) - Lifeline ambulance stayed busy on Thanksgiving day, but not because of trips to the hospital.
They picked up residents of extended care facilities who wanted to spend the day with their families, but needed a lift.
"I've dropped a couple people off today," said Lifeline Paramedic Jeremy Good. "The grandkids are running up, and it's very rewarding. It makes you feel real good."
The rides are free. Lifeline will do this again for Christmas. To make a reservation, call the OSF Wheelchair Dispatch at (815) 395-6039.
Metro Medical Services offers a similar program.
