ROCKFORD (WREX) - Students at East High School hear from a judge, but not because of recent problems there.
Chief Judge Janet Holmgren came to talk to a criminal law class. She was there with the Special Courts Administrator, Michelle Rock, to walk the students through real life examples of how the court decides to prosecute certain crimes.
"I think the more that the justice system is understandable and transparent, the more faith people will have in access to justice, and in the justice system outcomes," said 17th Judicial Circuit Court Chief Judge Janet Holmgren.
The talk comes just a week after some disturbances at East that prompted extra security.
