ROCKFORD (WREX) - The Rockford Fire Department says one of its veteran firefighters suddenly died of a heart attack while he was out of town.
Terrance Freeman was visiting family in Westmont, Illinois when he died of an apparent heart attack.
Freeman joined the fire department in 2005 and was training to be a paramedic.
The fire department released a statement saying, "Terrance will be greatly missed by his colleagues and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
A visitation and memorial service will be held for Freeman Saturday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 South Mulford Road in Rockford. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service.
