CHICAGO (AP) - Illinois is to receive nearly $100,000 in federal money to fight health care associated infections, or infections that some patients contract while in a hospital or outpatient clinic.
U.S. Sen. Roland Burris on Tuesday announced the funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Burris says the money comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Burris says the money will help reduce patients' risk of getting a health care associated infection and will improve "the quality of care for all Americans."
