ROCKFORD (WREX) - Two families will enjoy warmer and safer homes this winter thanks to a handful of volunteers.
The crews are part of the Rockford Work Camps, a project through Rockford Urban Ministries. Many of them are members of this city's Interfaith Council.
They're rehabilitating and repairing two homes over three days whose owners are unable to do the work themselves.
"The work crews who come in get to, sort of, develop skills and develop a sense of teamwork getting to know other people and getting to know the community," Michelle Ryan, a volunteer with Rockford Work Camp said.
The homes are approved through the city's Human Resources Department.
