PRESS RELEASE
ROCKFORD, Ill. - It's an annual rite of passage for those who suffer from seasonal allergies: blocked sinuses, loss of sense of smell, recurring headache, and a feeling of "pressure" on the face.
Yes, it's sinus season.
37 million Americans suffers from chronic sinusitis, but there is hope in Rockford. People suffering from chronic sinusitis can breathe easier thanks to a minimally-invasive treatment option offered locally by Rockford Health Physicians Otolaryngologist (ENT) Fazlur Zahurullah, M.D.
The surgery is designed to open blocked sinuses without painful tissue or bone removal, using Balloon Sinuplasty technology where a small, flexible balloon catheter is carefully guided through the nostril into the blocked sinus passageway. When the balloon is inflated, it gently restructures and opens the passageway, restoring normal sinus drainage and function.
Until recently, sinusitis patients were limited to two treatment options: Medical therapy such as antibiotics and topical nasal steroids or conventional sinus surgery. Balloon Sinuplasty is less invasive which means there is less pain, a shorter recovery and better long-term results.
